Obituary of William Richard Seidel

William Richard Seidel , formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana died peacefully on 25 December 2015 in Lenoir City, Tennessee. He was 85 years old. “Wild” Bill was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Amelia and Andrew Seidel on December 12th, 1930. He attended Central Catholic High School and was an Eagle Scout. Following graduation he joined the US Navy and served aboard the USS Missouri (BB-63) and the USS Columbus (CA-74) during the Korean War. Following his service, he attended Marshall University on the GI Bill, where he received his Bachelor’s degree. At Marshall, he played on the tennis team, and participated in a legion of intramural sports. Following his undergraduate work, he enrolled in the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University where he acquired his MBA. After graduation he took a position at IBM where he enjoyed a 28 year career in data processing sales achieving numerous 100% Club accolades. An avid golfer and squash player, he attained two top 10 rankings in the US for squash doubles. Bill is survived by his wife, Patricia; and their three children David Seidel (children Amelia and Spencer), Nancy Seidel - Woroniecki (husband Jim and her children Rachal Wall and Audrey Poole), and son John Seidel (wife Kim and children Bradley, Riley and Tenley). Bill is also survived by his four great grandchildren Marlee, Bailey, Alex and Lila; in addition to three siblings, Dorothy Dahm, Charlie Seidel and Marilyn Seidel. He is preceded in death by his brother Jacob Seidel of Pittsburgh, PA. Wild Bill's request was a celebration of life party which will be celebrated at his daughter's home this Saturday at 3 pm.
