Obituary of Nancy (Nidiffer) Lawhead

Nancy (Nidiffer) Lawhead, 70, of Sevierville, Tennessee, passed away on January 10, 2019, from multiple health complications at UT Medical Center, Knoxville, Tennessee.

Nancy was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 2, 1948. She graduated from Warren Central High School and in later years took courses of accounting and finance working on an associate degree at Indiana Business College.

Nancy was married to Ronald L. Lawhead on June 11, 1966; they were married 52 1⁄2 years. (They retired to Gatlinburg, TN in 2009.)

Nancy worked a number of odd jobs in the early years to accommodate her husband’s itinerate ministry in the United Methodist Church, later becoming a bank teller/assistant manager for National City Bank/PNC Bank until retirement. Besides her employment, Nancy was an active member of each of her husband’s churches through the years, often singing in the choir, helping with Vacation Bible School and annual fund raisers, and participating as a regular in the Sunday School program.

Nancy has been an active member of Gatlinburg First United Methodist Church since 2009.

Nancy thoroughly enjoyed Gatlinburg and The Great Smoky Mountains, and her retirement travels always had an end destination of majesty and tranquility calling her back home!

Nancy is survived by her husband: Ronald L. Lawhead; her children: Francis M. Lawhead, Ronnie L. Lawhead II, Aaron L. Lawhead (Jeannie), and Thomas L. Lawhead (Teresa); her grandchildren: Elizabeth (Lawhead) Albertson (Teddy), Noah Lawhead, Elton Lawhead, Ronnie Lawhead III, Christian Lawhead, Emily Lawhead, Grant Lawhead, and Savannah Lawhead; her siblings: Thomas Nidiffer II (Linda), Debby Goodman (Gene), Jana Nidiffer (Jane), and David Nidiffer (Dene); her nieces and nephews: Tommy Nidiffer, Cappy (Nidiffer) Baumert, Jennifer (Goodman) Ault, Jimmy Bacon, Dennis Goodman, Delaney Nidiffer, and other family and friends.

Nancy is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Edward Nidiffer and her mother, Ethel Cloene Shipp.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Gatlinburg First United Methodist Church, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The Reverend Barbara Clark of Gatlinburg First United Methodist Church will be officiating. Guests will be greeted by the family as they enter the sanctuary for the service.
