Obituary of William David Vanosdale

William David “Bill” Vanosdale, age 85, of Knoxville, and Dandridge, Tennessee died on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

Bill graduated from Karns High School in 1950 and was a member of the baseball and basketball team. He served proudly in the Air Force during the Korean War ‘51-‘55 and also served in the Air Force Reserves and the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Bill was a 32º Master Mason and member of the Brazelton Lodge #190 in Dandridge. He was raised a Master Mason with over 60 years of service.

Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dandridge and Central Baptist Church in Bearden in Knoxville, where he was a deacon for six years and sang in the choir. He was retired from Bell South with over 40 years of service.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, David Abbey Vanosdale and Sadie Lorena “Dollie” Pershing; and his sister, Margaret Ann Jones.

He is survived by his son, Scott Vanosdale; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Vanosdale and James Woody; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12 in the Fellowship Hall at Central Baptist Church in Bearden. Family and friends will meet at Edgewood Cemetery Saturday, August 12, at 3:30 p.m. for the graveside service with full military honors provided by the East TN Veterans Honor Guard.
